Search for the Elusive Little Blue Penguin

Once we left Oamaru, we headed off to Dunedin. Dunedin is a bustling city founded by a bunch of Scots in the mid 1800's, hence the Scottish sounding name. We got to our lovely rental holiday home up the hill from St. Claire's Beach and found we had to descend down "Jacobs Ladder".
Our home for the next evening was located 110 steps down the "ladder". After 15 minutes of searching for the key, we found it, unloaded the car and headed off to the Otago Peninsula for some eats and to begin our search for the Littel Blue Penguin in earnest. The Otago Peninsula is quite beautiful and really curvy...mostly 20-40 km per hour limit for 45 minutes. We ate at a decent pub/dinnerhouse and then went off to the end of the peninsula where we found a Little Blue Penguin nesting area. This place is home to albatross, fur seals and the elusive little blue buggers. Unfortunately for us, the weather was piss poor, er...pee soup poor, er...pea soupish...you know what we mean! Gray, misty, spitty, glum (sounds like Seattle in January doesn't it?!). We did happen to see all three of the local residents, including an addition, rabbits. Apparently there is an Easter Hunt, that includes actually hunting these critters (and I do not mean "here bunny, bunny" type of hunting!)

So, after an arduous search for the Little Blue Penguin, we returned to our house and crashed for the evening. We woke up to a glorious sunset

and very nice surf...only we were in a rush to get to the next destination and George had to go into withdrawals:(

Cheers!
